Looks like a few sketches are coming in here and there so dump your art/concepts here.

Here's the first rough sketch of the teacher, for the people who might not have seen it yet. lovetransfer.wikia.com/wiki/File:LT-teacher-concept.pngGlad the overall reception to the rough concept art is positive. As you guys have rightfully guessed, I am quite busy with my life at the moment (in the middle of a really stressful exam period at university, to be specific... shit's difficult...), so more than a couple of quick sketches each few days is all you're gonna get for now, I'm afraid. Within a week I'll be finished though, so expect more active project involvement from me (both in the forums and on the IRC) then. ---------- EDIT 15/08: Please refer to the downloadable artwork archive instead of viewing the artworks directly on the wiki. See second post on page 2 for more details and look at the end of the thread to download the latest version.

...Alright, it's finally summer vacation for me too. Here's another sketch I did during a break... I know she won't appear in this chapter yet, but still. A possible future design for the Canada-girl: lovetransfer.wikia.com/wiki/File:LT-canada-conceptsketch.pngIt's not as clean as the sketch of Sumiko-san earlier, but it's a only a (very) rough concept anyways and I didn't clean it up yet. I'll most likely change a lot of things later, as well. I'll let this go for the moment and focus more on the important stuff. For any comments, suggestions or (most importantly) requests, I shall be available on the IRC from today onwards. Let's do this people!

....So you were already working on her design? You should have told me >>... Maybe it wasn't anything too serious, I don't know, but you could always send me your ideas/references for Canada-tan, and I could integrate them in the next concept sketch.
-------------
BTW, I think we need to seriously discuss who's gonna do what for our artwork, and what exactly the artists are working on, at the time. I'm currently busy with an example of a fully colored Sumiko character sprite, for possible use ingame, so you can see how that's gonna look like. I don't mind doing the bulk of the artwork (hell I'd love to), but if there are things any of you specifically want to do, be it designing characters, creating logos, backgrounds, anything graphical related, please note me. I'd like to put up an up-to-date list (if possible) with everything the artists are currently working on, and a decent dividing of the tasks, to make things more clear for everyone. Maybe we should have done that earlier anyways.
I'm mostly available on the IRC for discussions from +- 6AM till 6PM, American time. If you want to send me an email (gurren1274@gmail.com ), that's okay as well.
tl;dr, wall of text again

We'll try to get the art divisions worked out tonight. Maybe. While I've got your attention I'd like to point out that we have a Character Outlines doc for short physical descriptions of the characters and their profiles. It doesn't have a full list of expressions that will be needed, but I'll try and have that done by the weekend.

So, the first character sprite is finished! I hope it turned out well enough for you guys - there was more work put in this simple sprite than you might think… I'm more experienced at pure digital paint stuff, not this. Took me three days to get it right... But it's okay for our VN I guess. lovetransfer.wikia.com/wiki/File:LT-sumiko-casualoutfitneutral.pngPlease open the image itself in another tab, it looks better that way. And if there's anything you want to see different, just tell me.

Hey, thanks ^^
For the other sprites, you're gonna have to wait a bit to get them though. Even if it's vacation, I've still got lots of other things to do as well, other than drawing ;_;
Anyways, looking forward to your programming dump ^^

The hair is a bit shitty on mine because I don't have a tablet and did it with mouse strokes or pen lines. I don't know the exact style we are going for in the VN so I just did the average "no nose, big eyes" style for now. Anyways here is the link. Too lazy to do glasses right now also. i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd489/ElPsyCongroo/final.pngAny criticism is helpful and we should decide on the main style soon so that more art can be done. Maybe we can make a poll or something of the sort. I'll leave that to transfer though.

Well, if there's anything that could still be improved on mine, it would be her face, I think. More... cute, y'know. That aside, her eyelashes could be better, as could the coloring on the left side of the hair. I don't have my graphics tablet at this time, but I'll probably do a little fix of these latter two when I get the chance (nothing major anyways). As for your drawing, I'd say it's pretty okay on it's own... But there's indeed a pretty big difference between our art styles, mainly the coloring... Well, what I used is basically only: - layer w/ base colors
- layer w/ gradiënts over the base (to make it look less flat)
- layer put on 'overlay', with black where the shading is, to get the cel-shaded coloring effect
- lineart layer (on top of everything else), with lowered opacity as to not make it pop out so much, compared to the coloring
That's pretty much everything, if you ever wanted to try it for yourself... I'd discuss the general art direction more on IRC but I'm kinda busy at the time^^.

To be honest I like your style better, but I'm still not sure what style we are gonna use. If we are gonna go with the serious realistic look or the more happy cutesy look. Either one is fine with me, but we should find out soon.
I could make a list of the thing I use for coloring, but it mainly consists of base colors, gaussian blur, smudge (like a pro), and layering like a motherfucker. The overlay with the shading sounds interesting and looks great so I might have to try that sometime. But I really just need more time to do the shading with the hair properly. I feel like clothing, skin, and even eyes are quite simple for me, but when it comes to hair I just can't get the shading to look the way I want it to. The main reason I use blurs instead of gradients is that gradients seem to limit the curves you can use with an average gradient. You can create really complicated gradients, but it seems to always take more time and never turns out right for me.
Anyways, I'll have more time to work on everything now so I should be on IRC quite often.

So I finally fixed her face a little, I think you're gonna like this version better. See the same link as before.
Also before I start drawing her different expressions, is this project still alive? I see that while the forums get visitors regularly, nothing on the project has really significantly changed the past month, even though gypsies said to restart writing... Or is he working on a new draft now? I haven't been on the IRC for some time, so perhaps I'm a bit behind on the progress. Maybe I should check up more often...
Anyways, it would be a shame to just let it die. Whatever it might be, don't let your head down, we can do this if we really want.

So, gurren reporting in again.
For those that weren't on IRC yesterday evening/night: I'll see if I can get on daily again (starting tomorrow), at around 22pm GMT, for a short moment. Then I'll listen to how you guys envision the artwork to be, if that's what you want. If I'm not there, just wait till the next day. From the 23th of august till the 7th of september I will have another go at a couple of exams (the ones that didn't go so well in june) so I will be unavailable then, and probably the few days before they start too since that's when shit gets serious again.
And if I have understood it correctly, we're waiting atm for either gypsies fixing his internet and coming back, or trying to get another writer working on the story, so we're taking it easy at the moment. I can live with that. Do hope we can get this project rolling again though.
